ULTIMATE SPRING BREAK
Dreaming of shutting your laptop for the first time, zipping up your book-bag and capping all those pens… we all are in need of some sort of getaway. Finding a place to retreat to may require a little effort; however, it’s nothing compared to the struggle of finals. Whether your definition of a vacation is volunteering towards a greater cause or surfing something other than the web, it’s time to pack a bag and step off campus. Your arguments with your TA over mid-term grades should not be your only adventure this semester.

MISSION TRIPS
For those of you with kind hearts, these organizations can always use an extra set of hands. Take a few friends and spend the day helping a family rebuild their home. Great music, great people, and moral satisfaction make this a perfect opportunity to remove yourself from your studies. Satisfy your craving to do good by going on a mission trip.

Catadupa, Jamaica
A change of scenery from Columbia, Catadupa is far from the stoplights and busy intersections. Even though it is set upon a mountain, you are the perfect distance from the beaches and resorts Montego Bay offers. There is moderate physical challenge and a significant ministry component. This is a significant work service project.
McDowell County, West Virginia
This is a shorter mission trip, in one of the poorest communities in the United States. In the southernmost tip of West Virginia, students come together to practice and share their faith while working on and coordinating a variety of service projects.

GREAT TIME ON A SMALL DIME
Between books, air fare from your last trip home and your friends’ weekly dinner or morning Starbucks run, scrounging the money together for a break from classes is a challenge in itself. Here are a few suggestions and tricks on how to get the most bang for your buck.

USC Equipment Rental: Even after several semesters on campus, most of us are not aware of all that USC Outdoor Recreation has to offer. Rent kayaks, surfboards, and bikes from the office (located in the lower level of Strom), and combine your equipment with the right snacks and a few hours in the car, and you’ll be relaxing in no time. Take advantage of student resources and begin making plans as soon as possible.

Priceline, Last Minute and VacationsToGo.com can help you find reduced hotels, rental cars, cruises and flights. Every penny counts!
