Perspective and Culture

The Gullah Geechee community live along the Lowcountry regions of present-day North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Their culture holds strong roots to West African culture, and their food has inspired much of Southern cuisine. By tracing the roots of Gullah Geechee history and culture, we can learn more about their strength, resilience and sense of community.
