How to Properly Pull Off a Crop Top

Crop tops are an emerging fashion statement, and when you pull them off the right way, they can be the perfect combination of edgy and stylish. Not all crop tops are meant to have your stomach on full display, and there are many ways to wear these stylish shirts all while staying in your comfort zone.

1. Create Balance
Ditch your cocktail dress for a structured crop top and a high wasted skirt. This plays with your proportions, and also shows a little skin, but still keeping a touch of modesty. A skirt that sits at the hips will make you look wider than you actually are, so a high wasted skirt, at any length, can show of your tiny waist!

2. Classic Layering
Adding another shirt under your crop top is a great idea if you want to create a more sophisticated look. Drawing inspiration from the movie “Clueless”, layer a button-down shirt under a crop top, and you can partake in this crop top trend, without showing much skin at all! This look is perfect for hiding your bits and pieces that you’d rather hide, and still elongating your figure.

3. Cover It Up
All crop tops don’t have to be sleeveless or short sleeve, and sweater versions of this summer trend can be a suitable option to wear while it is still spring. A sweater crop top, paired with high wasted jeans or a pair of classic black trousers will look great on a cool spring day when you don’t feel like bearing it all for the sake of fashion. They can also be worn with shorts just in case you want to show a little skin!

4. Stay In Your Comfort Zone
Box style crop tops are a type of crop top that aren’t snug around your waist. They aren’t skintight, so to balance out this look, I would pair them with a tight pencil skirt, so your silhouette can still remain slim, without wearing a constricting top. These styles of crop tops are more modest, and if you are uncomfortable with wearing a skin-hugging top, then these are a great alternative to the trend.

The great thing about crop tops, is that they can be worn in many ways, whether you want to show a little skin, or remain modest yet still chic. Luckily, this popular trend makes crop tops available in any style, making anybody capable of pulling off this dashing look. It’s certainly not an easy fashion to style, so I hope these tips help!
