Jennifer Lawrence: A True Role Model

She took the world by storm starring as Katniss Everdeen with the release of the first movie of the “Hunger Games” Trilogy in 2012 and has been seen as the girl on fire ever since. Jennifer Lawrence is, without a doubt, an amazing actress, role model and an all around fantastic person.

Conquering “The Hunger Games” did not stop Jennifer Lawrence from continuing her career as an untrained actress (with a fast pace might I add). Soon after starring in “The Hunger Games” Lawrence starred in “The house at the End of the Street” (2012), “Silver Linings Playbook” (2013), and other smaller films. In 2014 Lawrence will be taking her career in somewhat of a darker direction by starring in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” as returning character Mystique/Raven.

I speak for all Hunger Games fans when I say that the release of “Catching Fire” is much anticipated. Jennifer Lawrence delivered such an amazing and convincing performance in the first “Hunger Games” movie that I can only imagine what Catching Fire has in store. Her ability to adapt to any character and execute it as a whole makes Lawrence stand out in a sea of actors and actresses that are simply reading words on a page.

Another thing that makes Lawrence stand out against her peers is her down-to-earth personality and her ability to appear as a “normal person” rather than some celebrity that is too good for the rest of society. There are numerous GIFs and interviews all over the Internet that reveal her quirky, yet charming personality. Form her fall on her walk to accept her Oscar for Best Actress in 2013 to discussing a healthy body image for girls to look up to, Lawrence always manages to win over the audience.

Personally, I think more girls should look up to characters like Lawrence. She advocates a healthy weight and mentality for women of all ages. It is especially important to have grounded, selfless, and naturally beautiful woman such as Lawrence leading the cinemas this day in age. Too much of our society is focused on looking youthful and somewhat fake rather than natural looks and personality.
Despite criticism that Lawrence may have received for being too “busty” or “womanly” for the role of Katniss Everdeen, Lawrence remained and still remains true to herself and her personal values. Perhaps her candid character, charming aura, and natural acting abilities will allow for more girls to be confident in pursuing what they love to do.
