It is no secret that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are two of the most influential women in comedy. Their most recent appearance as a duo at the 2014 Golden Globes had the Beverly Hilton roaring with laughter, making for an overall beyond hilarious evening. Naturally, the two former SNL stars were dressed beautifully, Tina in three different Carolina Herrera pieces throughout the night and Amy in a fabulous black Stella McCartney piece.

Enough about fashion! Let’s get down to the jokes. The duo targeted a wide variety of stars with their jokes throughout the night, but here are some of their best lines:

• “‘Gravity’ is nominated for Best Film. It’s the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.”-Tina Fey

• “A lot of nominated shows this year are actually on Netflix: ‘House of Cards,’ ‘Orange is the New Black.’ Enjoy it while it lasts Netflix, because you’re not going to feel so smug in a couple of years when Snapchat is up here accepting Best Drama.” -Amy Poehler

• Discussing Meryl Streep: “[She’s] so brilliant in ‘August: Osage County,’ proving that there are still great roles in Hollywood for Meryl Streeps over 60.”- Fey

• Talking about the evening: “We’re going to get this done in three hours – or as Martin Scorsese calls it, Act One.” Fey

• “Congratulations to all the wonderful actors nominated tonight, from the amazing Chiwetel Ejiofor to the stunning Lupita Nyong’o to American treasure Tam Honks. Damn it, I knew I was going to screw that up.” – Poehler

• “Now, like a supermodel’s vagina, let’s say hello to Leonardo DiCaprio.” –Fey

Poehler and Fey offer a certain type of comedic chemistry that is a rare gem. They have the ability to dance beautifully on the line that falls between comedy and tragedy and always end up on the comedy side. Maybe it is due to their good comedic intentions and amazing personalities but regardless, they are still loved by all.

So what is next for the duo? Tina and Amy are already booked to host the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, and I am sure that nothing but good humor is to come!
