Now that the holidays are over, it is definitely hard to get back into the swing of things. You may be thinking that there is nothing to look forward to in these upcoming winter months, but that is where you are wrong. Conveniently enough, January through March is filled with one award show after the next to help you cope with those post-holiday blues. This past Sunday was the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards. Whether you are watching to see who takes home the big awards or to admire the stars and their fashion, award shows are good for easy entertainment.

This was the second year in a row that both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the show and many agree that they were just as funny and charming as ever. Some of the big awards: Cate Blanchett—Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, for her role in “Blue Jasmine,” along with Matthew McConaughey—Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club.” Both Amy Adams and Leonardo DiCaprio took home the same awards in the Comedy or Musical categories. Jennifer Lawrence, a crowd favorite, won Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for “American Hustle.”

However, the awards are not the only things that people have an opinion on. Most people are even more anxious to see what the celebrities are wearing and are just as ready to give their two cents on whether or not they like the wardrobe choice. One dress that caught many people’s attention was actress Lupita Nyong’o’s red Ralph Lauren cape gown. Another favorite was Amy Adams who also wore red, but featured a more dramatic neckline and revealing back. Zoe Saldana, who is known for taking risks especially in fashion, wore a delicate black and pink with embellishments that received mixed reactions.

If you missed the Golden Globes this past weekend, you don’t need to worry. There are plenty of award shows coming up in the next few weeks to help these winter months seem more tolerable.
