2014 Style Tips

A new year means making new resolutions, from trying to exercise more (for me it’s eating less Chick-fil-A), to trying new style ideas. 2014 is all about taking new risks with your style, and whether it’s walking to your new classes, a date, or a night out in five points, these ideas are sure to leave a lasting impression!

I composed four new style ideas that I plan to try out in the New Year, and I hope this inspires you to do the same!

1.Bright sweater
Most of the sweaters I own are neutral toned, and I usually wear them with dark skinny jeans and my worn down Steve Madden combat boots. Find yourself a brightly colored sweater, like yellow or red, and by putting them together with navy pants or a skirt, it s a good outfit choice for transitioning into spring.

2. Sparkle and Faded
Boyfriend jeans are a great option for dressing up or down. I pulled mine out of the bottom of my closet, and wore them with my pair of rhinestone oxfords to add a touch of glamour, all while still looking casual. You can also wear them with a pair of patterned shoes to switch it up.

3. When in France
Over the past few months, I have become obsessed with the styles of French fashion icons, like Audrey Tatou and Juliette Binoche. “French Style” infuses rock-n-roll with sophistication and versatility. To dress like a modern day madame, wear eye-popping patterns, and give a little edge with a leather jacket (every French woman’s staple item).

4. Scarf it Up
Scarves have always been an accessory that pulls an outfit together, but when is it ever the star of the show? A visually appealing scarf not only pulls an outfit together, but also can kick it up a notch. A faux fur or plaid scarf, paired with neutral toned clothing, spices up an outfit, and is still appropriate for winter.

By combining old and new pieces of my wardrobe, I have created new style ideas to bring in the New Year! Swap in the boring sweater and leggings with bright hues and visually appealing patterns to create a sophisticated look for 2014.
