Insta-Happy: 12 Tips to Boost Your Mood

Whether you can’t seem to shake those Monday blues or you’re yearning for Friday night already, Wednesdays have become the make or break mood day of the week. Instead of waving your white flag for the weekend, why not make a conscious choice to turn it around?

In the past few years, the market for happiness has skyrocketed as more and more people are looking to improve their day-to-day lives. Books from “Instructions for Happiness and Success to The Happiness Project” have infiltrated bookstores and Amazon alike to offer tips and tricks for people on the go, even students.

Gretchen Rubin, author of “The Happiness Project,” cites her 12 commandments for Happiness as being:

1. Meditate.

A great reset tool to change your mood and focus

2. Write more.
Even if you’re just letting your brain ramble, writing always clears away mind fog.

3. Keep things light.
Don’t let things drag you or your energy down.

4. Cultivate creativity.
Anything from taking a picture to listening to music.

5. Make time.
So crucial and possible! (There really are enough hours in the day.)

6. Love fully.
Pretty self-explanatory.

7. Let it go.
In the same vein as #3, don’t waste your energy on things that just are what they are.

8. Give back.
One of the easiest ways to boost your mood and someone else’s too!

9. Make others happy.
See 8.

10. Be mindful.
Also a good reset tool to tune in with how you’re feeling and how to go up from there.

11. Travel.
A little bit more difficult, but a nice trip to Cool Beans can substitute a trip to Paris in the meantime

12. Do what you do and keep doing it.
When you find something that makes you happy, feel free to work it into your daily or weekly routine-you’re definitely worth the time.

So go ahead, try one or two (or more) and enjoy the day! Happiness 100 percent guaranteed.
