Why Lupita Nyong’o is Everything

If you haven’t heard of her already, then you definitely will in the coming weeks. Lupita Nyong’o, Kenyan actress and film director, made her American film debut in Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave” as Patsey. She has received tremendous critical acclaim. Nyong’o has already won the Screen Actors Guild and Critics’ Choice Award for her role in this film, as well as being nominated for the Golden Globe, BAFTA and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Not only has Nyong’o received praise for her work in “12 Years a Slave,” but she has also wowed fans with her impeccable gown choices this award season. The world first took notice when she stepped out at the Golden Globes in a breathtaking crimson cape gown by Ralph Lauren that definitely left people intrigued. At the Critics’ Choice Awards Nyong’o went in a different direction. She sported a sleek white Calvin Klein number, which featured a bandeau top, and side cutouts that showed off her seemingly flawless skin. Finally at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Kenyan stood out in a vibrant teal Gucci gown that featured a floral decal at the top. I am so excited to see what this actress has in store for us, both in her career and in her fashion.
