Music Festival Excitement Heats Up this Snow Day

Classes have been canceled this week because of the snow and while most of you readers from the North laugh at us poor Southerners’ perception of what a “lot” of snow is, I am using this time to be as productive as I can. By productive I mean I am watching season eight of “Supernatural” on Netflix and online shopping.

This cold weather serves as a reminder of how much everyone misses summer and mostly summer break. While I am not looking forward to the obnoxiously hot summers of South Carolina, I am looking forward to the best thing that happens during the summer season: music festivals.

Music festivals are probably one of the coolest things in the entire world in my opinion. Not only are they the ultimate road trip, but they are the ultimate destination. Taking a road trip to go camping with your friends and thousands people for days that are filled with amazing music and making memories seems like the perfect component to having a great summer. It’s definitely something that I think everyone that loves music or just an adventure should try. Something that is really important in every festival out there is the lineup. Nothing gets a music fanatic like myself more excited/nervous than the anticipation of a music festival lineup. So what you really need to base your decision of which festival to try and go to is two things: the lineup and accessibility.

Coachella, which is a rather large music festival in California, has already released the lineup and is completely sold out. Coachella has been known as a celebrity nesting ground during the summer, tons of celebrities have been seen here. This is obviously a really good festival for people who live on the West Coast or don’t have to drive a week or more to get there, unless that’s your thing. The lineup was incredible this year at Coachella with people like Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Bombay Bicycle Club, etc. This year is proving to be a huge one for Coachella. So if you are one of the lucky thousands of people that actually got tickets, congrats! But for a lot of us that live on the East coast and are in grieving because we don’t get to see Lana, we still have another chance to go to another big music festival.

Bonnaroo is a festival that is located in Manchester, Tenn,, which is pretty convenient for us in South Carolina. Bonnaroo hasn’t released the lineup but it will be available Feb. 19, but if you are looking to go make sure you get your tickets early because they are probably going to sell out just as fast as Coachella did. As for the lineup, last year Paul McCartney played so I have extremely high hopes for the lineup this year.

If you can’t camp out for days or can’t make it to California or Tennessee don’t worry about it. There are always so many festivals that it would be impossible to list them all and they even have traveling festivals like Vans Warped Tour that will come to you instead of the other way around.
