Ticket Catastrophe

Parents Weekend is a fantastic time of the year. Parents can come down and see their children at school and give families that much needed time together. My parents were beyond excited to make the trip down for the weekend. It would be their second year coming all the way from New Jersey. My dad was extremely excited for the football game (In addition to seeing me, of course). He acted like a little kid on Christmas when game day rolled around. They went all out, putting on the jerseys and buying a ton of food and drinks for tailgating. Walking into the stadium, my dad’s excitement was palpable. But this is where the trouble began.

The year before, my parents bought their tickets through the school and ended up in one of the last rows of Upper Deck. They decided this year they would do things differently and go big for the game. My dad wanted to experience the game in the fullest way possible, so they spent the extra money to go for tickets on the field.

However, when they reached their second row of seats they immediately realized that they were not getting what was advertised to them. The second row seats on the visitor side are so low that once the team came out they could not see a single thing. Their entire experience was ruined for them and all of their money went down the drain.

Upon talking to my friend’s older brother, my dad found out that he had experienced the exact same thing the year before. He too hadn’t realized that the seats would be so terrible and wondered how they still got away with selling them. He was so furious at the experience and wished he could have warned my parents beforehand.

It is ridiculous for them to be able to sell tickets like that for such high prices. There was no disclaimer that there was limited visibility for these seats and the price didn’t give anything away. Their only chance of going to a game this year was ruined. Upon purchasing tickets in these sections there should be a disclaimer that they have limited visibility. It is wrong to get a fan’s hopes up only to be let down so immensely. It would only be fair to sell such horrible tickets at a low price and give the buyer a warning.
