Newly Formed Production Company Begins at USC

Senior theatre student Kamille Hayes is the president of the newly-formed Upstage Productions. That company recently started performing at USC. When asked to discuss her new company, Hayes had much to say.

“Upstage Productions is a newly-formed student organization that focuses on the unity among fine arts through musical productions. Every production will be student cast, directed and produced. Upstage was created in an effort to create opportunities and collaboration across all art forms.”

Oct. 25 and 26 was her company’s opening weekend, with the production of a cabaret called “Close Enough To Start A War, ” and she was very eager to get her new group moving in the right direction.

But the journey to her company’s debut was not overnight. “We started this journey in May 2013 with the help and guidance of [Advisor] K. Dale White,” Hayes said. “We knew that this was not going to be a short process by any means. After many meetings, business proposals and a ton of emails we were on our way to our first production, ‘Close Enough to Start A War.’ This experience has been incredibly rewarding.”

Hayes’ company gives people from all genres of art to come together and perform for the masses. By doing so, she helps to create a performance that showcases the best of all worlds. from the best acting to the most dramatic acting to the most beautiful singing.

Hayes assures that the organization’s debut year will be a great one. But of course, she cannot do it alone. You may email the organization at sostage@mailbox.sc.edu if you want to get involved.
