All We Do Is Win

But seriously, that’s all we do. Oh yeah, and we beat No. 1 teams. It’s a great day to be a Gamecock.

Screw that — it’s a great year to be a G-cock.

I’m referencing the recent baseball win over Florida, in case you didn’t know … but you should. Again, I honestly wondered if beating a No. 1 team made us No. 1, as we rightfully should be, but it does not.

It does, however, put a large “X” on our backs. USC is now the biggest target in college baseball, as if we weren’t before. And it puts even bigger targets on the players’ backs … and moves them right up to that celebrity status yet again. I mean, a “Jackie Bradley Jr. special” at Chick-fil-a? Yeah, it’s real. And it’s trending on Twitter.

You know what else is trending on Twitter? The hardly recent obsession with the baseball team by the entire student population. The players’ every moves are filmed, tweeted, laughed at and obsessed over … because they are that great. I mean, half of the team recently shaved their heads to support Camp Kemo. And that is no small feat.

We know each player’s walk-out song, and we know the dance that goes with it. We can name off batting averages like they are our own phone numbers. We know JBJ will make that catch, and we know Christian Walker will get us the last out we need. We know a call to the bullpen doesn’t happen much … because our pitchers are just that good. New or old fan, it’s the right year to support our baseball team.

Because yet again, I think we’re going all the way.

Trend that, Twitter.
