1. Wait until we’re almost at the front of the line to take out her wallet.
2. Pull out all of the cash she has and then hold it in her hands until it comes time to pay.
3. The total is $15, she counts her money and only has $12.
4. Then she looks back at me and (predictably) goes, “Do you have $3? I’ll pay you back!”
It drives me crazy every time because, down the road, say a week from then, I’m not going to be like, “Hey do you remember you owe me $3?” I mean, after all it isn’t a lot of money. But with our relationship that $3 turns into hundreds over time, especially because we’ve been friends for so long.
The worst is when we go somewhere and, she “forgets” her wallet entirely. Who walks out of the house without their wallet? It’s one of the only things you NEVER forget; your wallet and your cell phone. 99.9% of people always have those two items when they go anywhere.
Not her.
Sometimes we’ll be somewhere and she forgot her actual credit card... How do you do THAT? You just take it out of your wallet while you’re at home and then forget to put it back?
Us college kids are poor enough as it is, we can hardly pay for our own things, and having that type of “forgetful” friend around can really start to add up and burn a hole in our pockets.
