Oh sh*t. Macaroni and cheese. When people get to know me, they learn very quickly that I eat like a five-year-old. Last semester, my meals consisted of grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese and (when I was really feeling young) maybe a happy-meal from McDonalds.
Even though I love these delicious little kid meals, I had to steer away from them. The combination of these meals and drinking was damaging to my health. Well, I'm being dramatic. Not really damaging...but people were starting to think I was five.
So this semester I decided to join a dinner club at my house where I only have to cook once every two weeks for about 10 girls, and the meals are delicious.
I know we are all in college and between going to class all day, studying and drinking it is so hard not to resort to fast food or Velveeta, which only takes 10 minutes to make.
Little do people know, there are tons of healthy and delicious meals that are cheaper than fast food and take just the same amount of time to make than boxed meals or Velveeta.
Pastas are very easy to make and with just the right amount of sauce and a side salad it's a great option for dinner that really fills you up. Chicken breast with some seasoning (or you can use salad dressing) on top with some asparagus on the side is quick to make as well. Check out this website for some quick, penny-saving recipes.
Since pretty much everyone has going to the gym or "eating better" on their to-do list, try cooking at home. If you're on the meal plan, pick healthy balanced meals in the food line. It saves a lot of money...and saves a lot of fat from bulging over the sides of your jeans…sorry for the graphics.
