Proper Concert Etiquette

The days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer and the summer concert season is fast approaching. Whether you are going to Bonnaroo, The Hangout, Warped Tour or seeing your favorite local band there is a certain concert etiquette that should be followed by all concert-goers.

This is the 21st century and the majority of concert-goers have smart phones, however that does not give you the rite to record the entire concert on your phone. Concerts are once-in-a-lifetime moments that we would love to remember again and again, but I promise that you will regret spending the entire concert recording it on your phone. It is much better to enjoy the concert without your phone in front of you and you will save the people behind you from seeing your phone in the air the whole concert.

Be respectful of the conversations you have during the show. Maybe you don’t like the song that is playing or you are going to the concert against you will, but there are people around you that are there to enjoy the show. Obviously some conversation is okay, but the people sitting two rows in front of you probably do not care what you had for dinner two nights ago.

If the concert is general admission then it is everyman for himself. Obviously everyone wants to be as close as possible to the stage. The people that get the front row seats have probably spent all day waiting for them and therefore deserve those seats. If you really want the better seats, you are going to have to spend that time waiting for them.

Don’t be that guy that pukes over everyone. The stereotypical drunk/puking person is almost a norm at concerts these days. That person does not have to be you or your friends. It ruins the concert for those around you and will also ruin the experience for yourself. What fun is a concert if you can only remember throwing up all over people’s shoes?

The whole point of going to a concert is to enjoy the music and enjoy the atmosphere. Soak up the sun this summer and have the time of your life on all of your summer concert adventures, but also remember that other people are there to enjoy the same live music and atmosphere as you and your friends.
