Perfect Bracket? Yeah, Right!

By now, everyone’s filled out their NCAA Men’s Basketball bracket. But, if you haven’t, let me be the first to congratulate you. You’re still perfect…by deletion, of course.

What’s the deal with filling out so many brackets? It truly is “March Madness”!

People go out of their way to fill out who they think is going to win every game in the tournament, and, every year, not one of them is right.

But, why do we do this? It’s almost like buying 10, or more, lottery tickets when Powerball is over $250 million. Sure, I buy the tickets too in the hopes that I’ll win. But, do I think I will? Sure! 1 in 175,223,510.00 are great odds. Right?

It’s all about the thrill of victory. Oh wait…that’s ABC Sports. This is about trying to predict the future! Unless you’re Professor X, or Jean Grey, from the X-Men, I don’t see how you can read minds, no less predict the future.

Believe me, I know a lot of people that would love to do that. I’m one of them. I was given a lot of great powers. Alas, that wasn’t one of them. So, I guess my ability to be perfect in my own predictions are shot.

This particular NCAA Men’s Tournament is particularly weird. As of today, we’re now into the Sweet 16, and my original Final Four is all but shot. I still have one, but I’ll keep that to myself, although I still think they have a good shot.

Nonetheless, no one could have predicted teams like Duke or UNC not making it to the Sweet 16. Even Wichita State, which was perfect until their last game, didn’t make it.

So, what happens now? Do we just give up? Nah, not me. I’m still having fun watching. After all, who could have predicted Dayton getting this far?

Every year, the tournament produces many surprises. It’s like watching your favorite show. You think you know what’s about to happen. But, let’s be honest. We’re predicting the future…again.

I could use some cliché, but I won’t. After all, it’s not about whether you win or lose, but how you play the game. Right?
