March (Fashion!) Madness

Mad About March

Spring is approaching, and we are slowly crawling out of hibernation, hoping and praying the winter weather doesn’t make its appearance again. March is one of my favorite months, because it is the perfect transition into warmer weather, and we aren’t dying of the blistering South Carolina summer heat yet. But enough about the weather, the whole reason I am raving about March is because I can put a fresh spin on my wardrobe, before they become overused summer trends. I’ve made a list below of my new favorite spring style ideas!

Throwing it Back
Who knew pre-school could be so chic? Overalls and baby doll dresses are coming back into style, and they are a great way to put a casual twist on an outfit. Pale blues, pinks and yellows give of a refreshing and playful vibe, and pairing them with tougher outfit pieces, like faux leather leggings, can make and outfit edgy without being too harsh.

Chain Hang Low
Long and Drop-length necklaces are a great addition to any outfit. I’ve found some fantastic drop-length necklaces on Etsy, and it’s an added benefit that they are home made! Pair a deep cut dress, blouse or romper with a long necklace, and it gives the outfit a final touch of flare and class, but still keeping a little dash of sexy. This idea was inspired by Charlize Theron’s gorgeous 15 million drop necklace that she wore to the 2014 Oscars, and even though we all can’t be a 6-foot supermodel/ award-winning actress, it can’t hurt to dress like one!

Floppy Hats
You may think that large, oversized flappy hats are only meant for the beach, but I’d like to differ. Wide-brim hats can be a great addition to any outfit to make a casual but cute statement. Any neutral color, like beige or black, will match the majority of colors in your wardrobe. Let’s be honest, some days our hair is not up to par, and these kinds of hats are an ideal choice for bad and good hair days! Add an oversized pair of sunglasses, and you have an outfit that is both stylish and practical.

As you can tell, I am getting pretty excited for spring to arrive. These ideas are sure to help gracefully transition from cold to warmer weather. I can’t wait to pull all of my spring and summer clothes out of my closet, and combine them with the newest trends of 2014. I hope these ideas gave you some inspiration to create your own fabulous outfits for the upcoming months!
