Bruno Mars Rocks the Halftime Show like a “Gorilla”

This past weekend held a very special annual event that not only NFL football fans look forward to but also basically everyone at least in American cares about: the 47th Super Bowl, where the Seattle Seahawks played the Denver Broncos at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. If you can actually call what the Broncos did as playing. Everything about the Super Bowl is huge, from the commercials, stadium and salaries of the players to the halftime show.

In the list of people I expected to play the coveted halftime show the one person I didn’t expect to not only be on the list but actually be the performer is Bruno Mars. I didn’t expect that anyone could top the performance last year when Beyoncé performed and reunited with Destiny’s Child, but he seemed to do it.

I basically only knew him from the funny Tumblr picturing that went around after the VMAs of him standing beside really tall Taylor Swift. To be honest, he wasn’t even on my radar of artists that I even think about so hearing he got the spot was a little shocking to me at first. My opinion of Bruno was quickly changed after his performance. Let’s just go ahead and say that the Super Bowl should have been called the Bruno Mars Show because he played harder than the actual football teams this year.

He appeared on stage looking super dapper and cool in his usual skinny suit look, and I instantly knew why they picked him to play. Mars knows how to put on a good show that is full of talent and a little over-the-top without being overdone. He played most of his hits except for his newest which is called “Gorilla,” my guess why he didn’t was to keep the performance at least a little PG. We also got to see him perform with the Red Hot Chili Peppers for a song as well.

Mars’ halftime performance also broke the record for the most watched halftime show of all time, which put Beyoncé in 3rd place surprisingly but either way Bruno deserves a nice hi-five for that feat! The actual football game was supremely boring and a let down this year but at least we can say that the halftime show and commercials were not.
