Unfortunately, we all have to come to terms with the fact that Halloween has come and gone. I don’t know about you guys, but for me this is a lot easier said than done. Halloween is definitely my favorite holiday of the year. Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to get dressed up in something that they could never wear on any other day of the year? Whether you choose to dress up as your favorite animal, TV character or alter ego, picking the perfect costume comes with much preparation.
You may be surprised to hear that Halloween is just as big of an event for celebrities as it is for us. I am sure they struggle with deciding what to be each year just as much as we do. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t hope my costume would be one of the standouts of the night and I am sure celebrities feel the same pressure.
Every year there are usually a few costumes that are very common or predictable. This year that costume was Miley Cyrus’ teddy bear leotard that she wore in her infamous and controversial performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. Some of the stars that dressed up as Cyrus were Perez Hilton, Paris Hilton, Kelly Ripa and Lara Spencer. Perez Hilton chose to put his own spin on the costume by going as Vampire Miley instead.
However, Jenny McCarthy’s Miley costume was definitely my favorite. Instead of wearing the famous leotard, McCarthy dressed up as Cyrus’ tongue. If you don’t follow Cyrus regularly, then you should be aware that Miley’s go-to red carpet pose is sticking her tongue out. I thought this was both original and creative and definitely a stand out among the stars.
Speaking of Miley Cyrus, I am sure you are all wondering about her Halloween costume this year. She chose to dress as Lil’ Kim, donning a purple cat suit, lilac wig and pasty covering her left breast. Her goal was to replicate Lil’ Kim’s famous purple pasty look from the 1999 VMAs. This is not the first year that Cyrus has dressed up as another celeb; last year she dressed as Nicki Minaj.
One other celebrity costume that stood out this Halloween season was Heidi Klum. Typically, you’d expect Heidi Klum to wear something revealing or something that showed off her model figure. I am sure I am speaking for many when I say that her costume this year was not what people were expecting. Instead of wearing something that showed off her beauty, Klum dressed up as an old woman and looked unrecognizable.
The most important thing to remember about Halloween is to have fun with it, don’t take yourself too seriously and try to be creative with your costume!
