Man Down?

Bad news for South Carolina: Connor Shaw suffered a knee sprain in the loss to Tennessee last Saturday and will not be starting against Missouri this weekend. The good news, however, is that junior Dylan Thompson will be able to make his third career start.

More good news is that Shaw’s knee will not require surgery to be repaired. A ligament in his knee will just need some time to heal, but there is no timetable on when he will be 100 percent better. He has not been practicing this week as the team prepares for Mizzou, but later in the week he began to throw around a little bit while wearing a knee brace. Although Shaw will not be starting this week, he may dress out for the game and be available to come in as back-up to Thompson if he feels up to it.

In the 2013 season so far, Thompson has completed 29 of 51 attempted passes for a 56.9 completion rate and a total of 421 yards. The deuces are wild for Thompson thus far this season with two interceptions, two sacks and two touchdowns. Hopefully after this week we see a great increase in the touchdown stat.

After last week’s loss Carolina, dropped to No. 20 in the polls. Missouri is still undefeated at No. 5/7. The Gamecocks will make their first trip to Columbia, Mo., for this SEC matchup this Saturday.
