Kim and Kanye's Engagement: The 411

Whether you follow pop culture or not, I am going to go out on a limb and say that the majority of you have heard of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s engagement last week. However, you all may not be aware that Kim’s road to happiness has not been picture perfect. Before Kanye, Kim was married to music producer Damon Thomas, but went through a messy divorce four years later. After splitting from Thomas, Kim was linked to many different bachelors, including Nick Lachey, Ray J (with whom she made a notorious sex tape) and Reggie Bush. It was not until 2011 that Kim met Kris Humphries, got engaged and then infamously filed for divorce 72 days later.

When rumors spread that Kim and Kanye were seeing each other, skeptics were already predicting the relationship’s demise. They may need to think again though, because after having a baby together in June and getting engaged last week it seems like this may be it for Kim.

Kanye popped the question to Kim on Oct. 21, her 33rd birthday. In typical Kanye fashion, he made sure to propose in a big way. The rapper reportedly rented out the AT&T Park in San Francisco and invited all her close family and friends to witness the event. However, he did not stop there. Kanye arranged for the jumbo screen to read “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!” and for a 50-piece orchestra to play Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful” and Keri Hilson, Ne-Yo and West’s “Knock You Down.”

But what about the ring? I’m sure that Kim didn’t think twice after Kanye proposed to her with a 15-carat diamond ring made by celebrity jeweler Lorraine Schwartz.

When will Kim walk down the aisle? Will it be televised? How many dresses will Kim wear this time? According to speculation, Kim and Kanye are planning on tying the knot in the near future. It’s safe to bet that whenever these two do decide to get married it’ll be a night to remember. Let’s just hope for Kim’s sake that third time’s the charm.
