Is Fall Out Boy Moving Too Fast?

Fall Out Boy was my obsession from fifth to ninth grade; I was what they used to call a “Fall Out Girl.” Seeing them live still has a high spot in my “Best Bands Live” list. Songs like “Saturday,” “Grand Theft Autumn,” and “Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year” were my go to songs that I can still listen to now. Even if you didn’t like Fall Out Boy, you liked Fall Out Boy. You sang their songs when they came on the radio and danced to “Dance, Dance” on DDR (which is really taking it back to the early 2000s). They have always been that band of awkward guys who made it big.

When they took a “hiatus,” my young teen heart was completely shattered… at least what I thought was shattered then. Years past with no zero news from FOB, and finally out of the blue they finally got back together. Suddenly my middle school obsession was back and with a new song, album and tour. The first single “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark” was all over the radio and their album “Save Rock and Roll” came out in April 2013. The songs, album and tour came really fast; they threw themselves back into the music world and it was a little overwhelming. In a good way.

While the album wasn’t their best, it was still something from them… and that was good enough. The most impressive part of the album was the song “Save Rock and Roll,” which featured Elton John; how they got Elton John to guest star in a song I have no idea.

Normally, most bands release an album once a year. That is pretty standard of all types of music. But what has me questioning what Fall Out Boy is doing is the news that they are releasing yet another album this month. The album is called “Pax Am Days” and the first single has already released, “Love, Sex, Death.” It seems like they are moving really fast and trying to get back what they had in the music world.

I think they need to slow down and give people time to process the last album and tour before they throw another one at the world. I don’t think their decade career is going to fly away when they aren’t looking.

What do you think? Do you think two albums in one year is too much, or that they should keep them coming?
