Halloween Activities

As Halloween approaches, many people are looking for some chill-inducing fun to get ready for October 31st. So here are few fun activities and events to prepare for the big day.

1. Abandoned Insane Asylum

Located at the corner of Bull Street and Elmwood, the abandoned psychiatric hospital originally opened in 1828. They closed the building in the 80s and now homes a few destitute people (to add a little more thrill to your experience). The building is open to the public any weekday; however, I would recommend visiting the building before nightfall.

2. Dracula

High Voltage Theatre is preforming the classic thriller Dracula at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheatre (located at 121 Alexander Rd). Showtime is 8 p.m. Thursday – Sunday and admission is $12.

3. Cayce-West Columbia Jaycees Hall of Horrors

Also located in West Columbia, is Jaycees Hall of Horrors, which an inn full of pure terror. The inn is located at 1153 Walter Price Street. Admissions fee is $12 and is opened 7-11PM on weekends (6 p.m.-9 o.m. on Sundays).

4. BOO at the Zoo

For those who are not exactly “thrill junkies” (like myself), the Riverbanks Zoo (500 Wildlife Pkwy) has some Halloween themed fun for the family. Cost for admission is $9 per person. Boo at the Zoo is opened 6-9PM, Friday-Thursday.
